The newest addition to the Beer Heights Light Railway fleet was steamed tested today. We think he/she will be a "really useful engine" when completed!

The pressure is mounting with the latest major project in the Railway's workshop! More later.....

Vacancy – Part time Signalling & Telegraph Technician. The Beer Heights Light Railway at Pecorama is seeking the services of a knowledgeable S&T technician. This is very much a part time post involving maintenance, fault-finding and development of the railways comprehensive track circuit based signalling system. The interlocking consists solely of low voltage relays with no solid-state equipment. The position may suit a retired person living within a reasonable driving distance of Beer, Devon. Ideally a background in railway signalling and knowledge of basic low voltage electrical systems, Ohm's law etc is desirable. It is possible, if a candidate has the right attributes, we may also be able to offer occasional train driving duties after appropriate training. The Christmas holidays don't stop us here on the Beer Heights Light Railway! One of our major projects this winter is Mr P's repaint, ready for his 21st birthday next year. Our top sign writer Kaz has been putting the 24ct gold leaf on the cab side numbers today - quite a delicate process!

Today is our last day of running Santa Specials. We will be running an additional train at 1.30pm so if you're quick pop up and book your seat! Don't forget we will be closed tomorrow Friday 22nd December until Tuesday 2nd January, BUT the Play Station and Garden Room Restaurant will be open from next Wednesday 27th December (closed on Monday 1st January).

Santa and his helper elves have been fantastic this week but the reindeer have been a bit naughty! Luckily, we have a fresh delivery of snowballs for the children to use and keep the reindeer busy!!
