Not sure if this is of interest to anyone, but we found an old Cricket Match Score Book in the cellars at Battle Abbey yesterday, which would have belonged to Glengorse School. It is dated May 1959 - June 1966 so was before Glengorse merged with Hydneye House School (1969) and must have been brought to Battle Abbey after the merger with Glengorse in 1989 ... I wonder what else is in the cellars?!! :-)

FOBAS (Friends of Battle Abbey School) are hosting a one-off Comedy & Curry night on Saturday 25th March featuring some well known comedians who are currently on the London Comedy Club circuits. A buffet curry will be held in the dining room, then the comedy will take place on the stage in the Abbot's Hall, cabaret-style with a cash bar, so bring a friend (or two!) and come and join us! Calling all lady golfers ...!! Battle Abbey School had been relocated to Killerton Park in Devon by 1940 - just as well by all accounts! So glad that this incident had a happy ending, but I'm not sure I would have wanted to inspect an unexploded bomb quite so closely ...

1990-2010 leavers: A new date for your diaries! Thursday 16th March 2017 - drinks and canapes in the Mint Leaf, Piccadilly from 6pm - 8pm (although you are welcome to stay on for longer!) London Reunion - just to let you all know that this Saturday's reunion drinks for 1990-2010 leavers is being postponed to later on this year as there was a clash of dates. Please can you share this update accordingly! Hopefully it won't affect too many people's plans as it was a 'save the date' rather than a confirmed event, but my apologies for the short notice and lack of communication. I have now got a few venue options to look at so will get a date and location arranged as soon as possible. We are most likely changing the day to a Thursday evening 'after work' type of event, but if you are keen to still meet at a weekend do let me know and I'll see if we can do both! Where there's a will there's always a way!! ;-)

Battle Axes - 1970s Reunion

Details still to be confirmed but we're hoping to hold a reunion event (drinks? lunch? a meet up in London the night before?) on Founders' Day this year (Saturday 7th October) for Old Girls who were at Battle Abbey School during the 1970s, so please save the date!! An email or letter will be sent out soon with more information, so make sure we have your up to date contact details!

Setting up for the annual Burns Night Ceilidh - unfortunately I completely forgot to take any photos of the guests (dressed with a 'touch of tartan'), the pipers from the 1066 Pipes & Drums, and the dancing to the live band! Next year hopefully ...!!
