Sales help me support 3 little girls in India called Sai Bindu, Rikita & Priya. I can also support a fantastic charity in Kenya helping families in need. Until 2012 crafting was my full time job. My lovely husband, Daniel, & I had a company where myself & great team of girls supplied lots of shops here & across the pond with handcrafted gifts & greetings cards.  It was perfect as Daniel did all the "boring" stuff like accounts & the real business & I got to design & craft!  I also offered a bespoke handcrafted wedding stationery service.  It's something I still do, so if you know anyone getting married give them my number!  Things were wonderful but my health wasn't at all. I don't give in easily but after years of being ill (from 2002) & more health issues arising I had to stop.  It broke my heart but I knew it was our only option. I find it so difficult to "rest".  I know I probably crack Daniel up so many days when he's telling me to rest.  I have always worked, always been someone who "pushes on through" so it's taking me a while to accept that I am ill & have to rest.  I still love crafting & after closing the business I started making a few bits & pieces for friends & family & did some craft fairs to get out of the house once in a while.  I wanted my crafting to have a purpose so through it I sponsor a gorgeous little girl, called Sai Bindu, in India through the charity "Free a Dalit Child" by Operation Mobilisation.  She comes from a section of the population called the Dalits or "untouchables" which means "the oppressed".  They are thought of as less valuable than animals and are below the caste system.  To give them any chance of escaping this awful life the children need to be educated.  This charity sets up schools and provides excellent education for children just like Sai. I always think "there but for the grace of God go I".  Every day Sai goes to school & gets a lovely meal, makes friends, & learns about God.  This sponsorship goes much further than just Sai's daily needs.  The area she lives in is 85% dalits.  This is where 1000's of children are taken every year to be used in human trafficking.  Also the hindu faith has many mystical traditions to try to please their gods to get favour & sadly these often involve using beautiful little girls like Sai so keeping her off the streets & in a safe place every day is so important. I really appreciate all your support & as I get updates about Sai, her village & get her letters & drawings I will update you too.
