facebook.comA day for Cairngorms connoiseurs today, for Heidi's last day out with me. Glen Feshie and Mullach Clach a Blair but even better was the sun-drenched second lunch at the remote Lochan nam Bo, and having to work hard to find traces (just!) of the old stalker's path down to the Glen.
Another lovely day guiding Heidi around the Cairngorms National Park. We climbed Creag Dhubh, visited the Argyll stone, surfed down on waist deep heather and rewarded ourselves with great tea and cake at the The Potting Shed Tearoom, Aviemore.
Heidi was out with me again today and we enjoyed a very breezy but mostly dry Kincardine ridge. The afternoon tea at the Red Squirrel Cafe Glenmore was top notch too.
A couple of years ago Heidi joined me for a private NNAS Silver course. Today we revisited those techniques and put them into the context of a mountain day, with an East-West traverse of Braeriach from Whitewell. A big day on a great mountain. More photos etc. to follow on the blog. http://onhighhills.blogspot.co.uk/
Wow! We live in a wonderful country. Use HD if you can!
Very enjoyable week in the South of the Cairngorms National Park with some pupils from Robert Gordon's College. We hiked, mountain-biked and even climbed a Munro. For most this was their first experience of the mountains so well done all!
View from near the summit of one of my favourite "small" hills in Scotland, taken last week. Beinn Dhubh 506m is perched dramatically above the exquisite golden sands of Luskentyre, South Harris, Outer Hebrides. This view is everything that is wonderful about hill-walking in Scotland.
Navigation tuition in the Peak District (yes, England!) today
Happy clients = happy me.
More like mid-January today for my three lovely American clients; a super day showing them Rothiemurchus, the Northern Corries and Glenmore. The coffee and drams at the end helped restore some warmth after several hours in the blizzards......
