After much success with our youth development program and the fact that four of Glenkeens youth team made the Ulster team who performed amazing over the weekend to take both the river and lake inter provincial titles, Glenkeen will be going full swing with its youth development program to encourage more young people to take up fly fishing and improve on the skills they already have. Any parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles who are interested in getting theirs kids out doing something fun this is a fantastic opportunity. Any young anglers between the age of 12years to 18years of age with fly fishing ability can join us at Glenkeen where over the next year we plan on building on our already successful youth team. Big things ahead this year for youth angling folks with Ireland winning the four nations in youth angling in Scotland young Thomas Grew from Glenkeen a regular at the fishery and part of our youth team was part of the team who won Gold. Thomas also was part of the Ulster team who participated in both the river and lake inter-provincial championship that won both titles. Ellie Bloomer, kristoffer Mackenzie and Imogen Johnston all part of Glenkeens youth fly fishing team all in their first year of competition angling came away with the rest of the Ulster team as winners. Team work, social skills, sport, health and wellbeing is only some of the benefits gained through angling and the friendships made is something to behold. We at Glenkeen will strive this year to make Glenkeen one of Ireland's most successful angling hubs for youth angling. Get your kids involved.
