This is the homepage for 'the BEST defence', the original Martial Arts Centre in Angus, where we provide the HIGHEST standard martial arts instruction. The BEST defence is the premier Martial Arts Centre in Arbroath, & was the first Martial Arts Centre in Angus. It offers the highest standard of instruction to all age groups, from one of the UK's most experienced & qualified instructors, Master at Arms Mark Davies.
We have NinjaSkool classes for 4 - 8 year olds. Junior Tactical Edge & Junior Combat Kickboxing classes for 9 years +. For adults & teens we have Senior Tactical Edge, Hybrid Combat Kickboxing, & ITF TaeKwon-Do. For Ladies only we have 'Femme Fatale' which is a real Kickboxing class, but for women only. As well as the Martial Arts classes we have Nicole Murray's 'Fighting Fit' fitness class.
Our centre is fully equipped with a variety of punchbags, body opponent bags, wooden dummy, Kettlebells, focus pads, kicking shields, & training weapons. Training is done on our permanently matted training areas, & our studio is a safe & friendly environment for you or your child to learn & develop in.
Chief Instructor, Master at Arms Mark Davies, has been an Instructor for 29 years, & has been training in the martial arts for 35, & he holds Blackbelt or Instructors credentials in 9 different martial arts! He is a world renowned authority on combatives & self defence, & is an instructor to an element of UK Special Forces.

A FANTASTIC PASTIME FOR CHILDREN 9+. Our J-Tac (Junior Tactical Edge) offers children from 9 years + something a bit different in Martial Arts training. J-Tac isn't a sport, in J-Tac our students work on personal development, developing their character & life skills, whilst learning effective self defence & personal safety skills, & anti bullying skills; & we emphasise atttibutes like courtesy, respect, & self discipline in class. Its a fantastic workout, not just physically but mentally as well. We have classes in Arbroath at 'the BEST defence' on a Tues & Thurs from.6.30 - 7.30pm, & at Montrose Sports Centre on a Weds from.4.30 - 5.30pm. The class is taught by Master at Arms Mark Davies who is an internationally renowed self defence specialist. He has nearly 40 years of experience, & has been an instructor since 1987, so you know your child is getting the most experienced instruction possible. Our Tactical Edge system is an exciting & fun blend of Filipino Kali, Indonesian Silat, Jeet Kune Do, & Krav Maga. Older teens can join our Adults Tactical Edge programme. We all know how bad bullying is in the schools in Angus just now, & J-Tac is a great way to for your child to learn anti bullying & self defence skills. Something to always remember.
Never ever forget that your instructor & all the Black belts were beginners once as well. We ALL start our path in the Martial Arts the same way, & a good teacher will always remember what it was like to be a white belt😊
Our beginners course starts tonight. All are welcome, even if you haven't booked a space you CAN just pitch up & join us. The 6 week course is only £25, which is deductable from your uniform & licence if you enrol at the end. 2 sessions of Tactical Edge, 2 sessions of TaeKwon-Do, & 2 sessions of Kickboxing. 7 - 8pm on Mondays starting tonight @ the BEST defence, 6 Guthrie Port in Arbroath.

You'll get two introductory sessions of Tactical Edge, two of TaeKwon-Do, & two of Kickboxing. After this you'll be able to join the classes of your choice with confidence.
