Currently rebuilding, come get involved! Abingdon Town F.C. is a football club based out of Abingdon, Oxfordshire in England. They play in the North Berks Football League Division One and is affiliated with the Becks & Bucks Football Association. Their biggest rivals are Abingdon United.

They play all their home matches at Culham Road, Abingdon.

They ground had been purchased for 300 pounds and has been rotated 90 degrees from its original position. They were forced to vacate the ground for an entire season while this was being done and played their home games elsewhere.

The ground can hold as many as 2000 supporters at any time.

They have won the premier division of the Hellenic Football League on 4 occasions and have also won the Isthmian league once. They have reached the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup on 3 occasions as well.

Their highest recorded victory is against Crown & Manor with a score of 13-0. Their biggest lost came against Bletchley Town 0-9.

Five England internationals have played for this team in the past, Joey Beauchamp, Dean Whitehead, Maurice Owen, Howard Forinton and Jermaine McSporran.

The team was being managed by Gavin Jones and Tom Larman as their chairman up until April 2017.

The club faced a lot of trouble off the pitch in recent seasons and decided to relegate themselves to the North Berks Football League.

The club was formed back in 1870 as Abingdon FC. But it was only in 1928 when they changed their name to what they are known today, Abingdon Town FC.

#funfacts #footballfacts ⚽️⚽️⚽️’The game of football received its name not because the ball is kicked with the foot, but because it is a sport that is played on foot. In the earlier days, the peasants would play almost all their sports on foot while those of a higher social status played their sport on horseback. As a result, the games that were played on foot were referred to as football.' ✔️👍🏻

Abingdon Town host top of the table, Long Crendon in the Bluefin Sport (UHL) Supplementary Cup this Saturday. This will be Crendons second trip to Culham Road this season, the first encounter was a gripping 4-4 draw, with Sean Leach, (sponsored by AHC Property Maintenance) normally a keeper playing on pitch and scoring twice. There will be some late fitness tests on Stevie Andrews and Paul Bough (sponsored by The Three Horseshoes, Garsington, https://m.facebook.com/threehorseshoespub/), both thigh injuries and Jake Lewis (sponsored by Abingdon Town Academy), hamstring. Captain Carl Bloomfield (sponsored by JT’s Cocktail Bar, https://www.jtscocktailbarandclub.co.uk) is a doubt due to family commitments, Kieran Davis (sponsored by Stamina,Boxing Club, https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=223797034828937&ref=content_filter) is unavailable due to work commitments and Louis George (sponsored by LCG Maintenance, https://m.facebook.com/LCG-Maintenance-1323755987751481/?ref=content_filter) serves the last game of a three match ban. Josh West returns to the squad after suffering a knee injury. “We have a small squad and this week I will probably be worrying till the actual match to see what sort of squad we will have,” says manager Stuart Parsons (sponsored by Bremner Glass & Glazing, http://www.bremnerglassandglazing.com/). “To be honest it seems just like the last time we met Long Crendon. That was a nightmare of a day. We were very short, Leachy even started up top!!! Fair enough he done well and scored two brilliant headers, but it is not ideal having your stand in keeper starting on pitch, and he hadn’t played for a few years. We had players arriving late and other stuff going on that added to the stress of the day. Crendon got a couple of early goals, but we fought back to go 4-3 in front and then Crendon got a last minute winner. It was an exciting game for the spectators, but I was left disappointed as I feel we should have won that game. We are off and running in 2018 and I am just looking at each game as they come, obviously we want to win every game, but I am not planning ahead too far.” #AbingdoTownFC #Abbotts #UPTHEABBOTTS #OverTheBridge #BloosBrothers #WestManDude #BluefinSports #HellenicLeague #Uhlsport

Unfortunately tomorrow’s first team game has been called off. After a massive loss last week London Rangers are struggling to field a side. “It’s a shame the game is off, but it gives Westy (Josh West) and Jake Lewis an extra week to get back to fitness without missing a game” says manager Stuart Parsons (sponsored by Bremner Glass & Glazing, http://www.bremnerglassandglazing.com). “It’s a shame for Gino (Louis George) as he still has one game to serve on his three match ban, which he has been serving for around six weeks. We had a fair few missing this week due to injuries and work commitments so it has done us a slight favour too. It is what it is though and we now look forward to playing Long Crendon in the Cup next week.” Abingdon will host Long Crendon at home on Saturday 27th January in the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup.
