Home page for Vale of the White Horse (Abingdon on Thames) Phab Club. Set up and Monitored by Colin Bartlett (Club Secretary). Phab, The Charity, has the aim to promote and encourage people of all abilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete inclusion within the wider Community.
During 2017, Phab UK is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee. The charity continues to inspire and support people of all ages to make more of life together. It has transformed the lives of many thousands of disabled people and changed the attitudes of millions towards those with disabilities, playing a vital role in our communities.
The Vale of the White Horse (Abingdon) Phab Club was founded September 26th 1985: David Carter, was feeling bored and wanted something to occupy him, a club he could join, an ordinary request you would think, but David was in a wheelchair.
Unable to find a club to suit his needs, decided to start one himself. Finding out about Phab (UK), he setup the club. The local MP, John Patton opened the first meeting.
His parents, Nigel and Barbara Carter, continue this legacy today.
A constitution was typed, a committee formed, comprising both Able Bodied and ‘Disabled’, and affiliation to Phab UK. We still follow this constitution today, although everything is now word processed on a computer.
White Horse Phab meet every Thursday, in the main hall of Christchurch, Northcourt Road. OX14 1PL
7pm until 9pm (Excluding August).

We have approx 30 regular members who meet in the hall Thursdays,social events following a programme each week, a real family atmosphere, offering friendship ( The Club has a policy of not using volunteers). Club is always looking for new members to join.

Grand Christmas party, to celebrate Christmas. This will be a catered event. We must know numbers, so please tell Colin or Barbara. (In advance) Also to thank everyone who has visited club, fed and watered us, and followed us since 1985. Friends/Family..... So invited guests can join us to celebrate There will be a Raffle to raise funds for the club. Many lovely prizes.
This will be a bring and share food event/Birthday Party With entertainment for the evening.
Sponsored Walk: Raising money for White Horse Abingdon-on-Thames Phab Club - 11am start, walk is followed by refreshments in St Michaels Church Hall, provided by the ladies of the church. Limited Parking in Park Road (Permits Only) Money raised - added to funds to be spent on all our members. In association with St Michael and All Angels' Church - Park Road, and Christs Hospital Charity.
Christmas Meal for Phab Club members only.
