Scheublein + Bak
Description
The gallery offers a platform for internationally acclaimed photographers and is equally dedicated to introduce young emerging artists. SCHEUBLEIN + BAK is based at Sihlberg Castle in Zurich and was founded by Christina Scheublein & Georg Bak in May 2011. Since its founding, the focus of the gallery program lies on offering acclaimed as well as highly gifted emerging photographers and digital artists a platform to show their works. In recent years the gallery also increasingly put emphasis on the emergence of generative and abstract photography in the 1950s and 1960s in mostly Germany and its influence on the discourse in the field of new media and digital photography. SCHEUBLEIN + BAK accordingly exhibits works by these pioneers of computer art contrasting works by emerging artists using the most cutting-edge technology and thus questioning the media of photography in the digital era. In this context the gallery offers acclaimed as well as highly gifted emerging photographers and digital artists a platform to show their works.
