Back from the surreal 4 day enduro that is #swissmoto. Pensioners, expats, experts, 7-owners, and gangs mainly. Hopefully a few new subscribers in amongst them. Summary: one slightly crashed bike, sore feet, and possible permanent hearing damage from the relentlessly repeated pseudo-stripper act 50 feet away. At least Ivo Tschumi and friends at Britalmoto were lovely. And I rediscovered the comfiness of a flask of hot tea consumed with dunkers and an audience over a morning. Ever again? Only if with Norton Motorcycles (UK) Ltd bikes - one day back in Switzerland I hope. All the Jap bikes look silly, the Triumphs are almost perfect, BMW RnineT variants will be ubiquitous within a season - fab and cheap - no Guzzi this year, with the only wows for a couple of the one-offs. Top prize to the 'busa in the GSXR750L plastic and paintjob. Must have. Note to self: there were zero old brits chopped or cafed out of the 50-odd specials at the show. And not a single Norton of any age in that whole shimmering palace apart from the Dunlops' JPS fag ones. I've been with two before and want to go with more again. If only to out-black all the brown'seated parody vintage tributes esteemed by beflatcapped bearded wannabes like myself. Either way, thanks to everyone that came over for a chat, see you on the road.
