How can we reduce needle phobia?

Did you know that needle phobia is a reality for as many as 1 in 10 people? When one of those people has hard-to-access veins, dehydrated or fragile veins due to diabetes, veins damaged by cardiovascular or sickle cell diseases, or veins ‘blown-out’ by regular IV therapy, well, blood draws and peripheral IV cannulations can become nightmares – both emotionally and physically. Check out this first-hand account as a patient with difficult venous access shares her story and we look at how Veinplicity could help reduce the fear of needles: http://www.veinplicity.com/single-post/2017/02/09/How-do-we-overcome-needle-phobia

Venous access through a child's eyes | Veinplicity: Revolutionizing venous access

As we refine our efforts to make difficult venous access a thing of the past, the Veinplicity team has been exploring needle phobia across various patient groups. During this, we discovered that blood draws and peripheral IV cannulations can traumatize children, especially those with serious illnesses. Children’s small veins make venous access difficult in the best of circumstances. When fear causes veins to shrink, small veins become even harder to access – and a vicious cycle is born. Find out what nurses and practitioners can do to help stop it, below.

Final recap: Veinplicity at Medica 2016

We were overwhelmed by the interest Veinplicity received at Medica 2016 in Düsseldorf last week. Our team met lots of interesting people from all around the world; we heard many stories from individuals with hard-to-access veins about how Veinplicity could change the way they receive treatment; and we were inspired about new avenues for our product. It was a very invigorating event, summed up nicely by this jaunty video produced by our dedicated communications team – Anna Zengaffinen, Hettie Foreman and Kati Clinton Robson!

Who pays the price for failed IV placements? | Veinplicity: Revolutionizing venous access

Many of us will need to have an IV catheter placed at some point, to deliver a spectrum of therapies from antibiotics to simple fluids. But did you know that the process of actually placing the catheter fails more than half the time on the first attempt, according to some studies? And those failures are expensive for hospitals, and especially for patients. Check out our article to see just how expensive: https://goo.gl/cgLXyY
