Description
BASAID is an NGO that supports projects addressing basic needs, like water, health, housing and education, in developing countries. What are BASAID's priorities?
• Financial support is provided directly rather than through intermediary organisations.
• Projects are mainly in the areas of guaranteeing water supply, medical support and promotion of education.
• Projects should concentrate on improvements in rural areas. The concentration on a few regions promotes efficient control.
• Technical improvements must be aligned with the local situation.
• Education as a mean to support self-help is always part of a project.
How is BASAID financed: The lion’s share of the financial resources comes from the regular contributions of our members. The annual bazaar delivers a moderate contribution and provides a platform for displaying craft products from the countries where projects are run. Interest from the Lehman fund flows directly to our projects, and further donations are received from retirements, anniversaries, and legacies.

We strongly believe that everybody should have the chance to have access to books, as books are the key to wisdom. In order to grant people in Licab, Nueva Ecija in the Philippines access to books, we were able to support the building of a two-storey house on the Bardias Elementary School campus. The new house provides two new classrooms for instructional use and a library to store books and educational material supplied by the government and donors. Over the past seven years, "Children’s Future" (NGO) has committed to support a basic needs programme, ensuring that the poor children in rural Battambang, Cambodia are nourished and safe. In 2016 the Basaid-Donations went to the Children's Future International flagship Education program. The program is meant to care for the whole child, from ensuring their basic needs, to supporting their family, to providing high-quality education.
