A very good show in Coppet a few weeks ago, despite the cold april quite a few gems made it in bloom to my stand, and the forcing of the whine purple lilium formia ended up working as it opened the day before the show :)
Everything is in preparation at the chateau de Coppet! Come and see my stand from friday-sunday at the jardins en féte at the chateau de Coppet from 10-6 :)
May is sp paeonia time in the nursery showgarden! mlokosewitschii, berwerskyi and peregrina open their beautifull short lived bowls of beauty!
The second half of april was much colder than usual, with heavy morning frosts damaging lilium regale and other shoots. However, most fritillarias survived unharmed as well as sp tulips and cypripediums. The first arisaema thunbergii ssp urashima has also opened and so have the paris and iris germanica. Germanicas are earlier than usual this year due to the very warm march and first half of april
From mid-march to about early/mid april we went from winter to summer here with no transition through spring. 20-22"c every day with almost no rain. This advanced plants 2-3 weeks ahead of their usual blooming period. During this period, stars of the nursery showgarden where anonghst others : cyclamen repandum, daphnes, cypripediums, sp paeonia and various fritillarias as well as sp tulips. Various anemone sp where also in full bloom
Some rare lilium species are currently available in very small numbers, untill early april only, when they will start to grow again. From left to right, lilium concolor, callosum, and top lilium poilanei, and bottom lilium rubellum. please e mail for details at pontus.wallsten@bluewin.ch
