This cake went out to our very first neighbour from when we moved to Switzerland 10 years back. Even though we moved to another locality after the 1st year, we have definitely kept in touch.😊 He's very passionate about his woodshop hobby and has taken it to another level. So it was only apt to have a cake that matched his hobby. This cake literally gave me the heart attack after a mini episode of the saw snapping in two just as I stepped out of my building, if you know what I mean Petrea Bruce 😉. After a quick last minute open cake surgery and a very fickle edible saw which decided to behave badly at the very last minute, I did salvage the cake. That meant the saw couldn't be placed the awesome way it was intended to be placed but had to make it look like it cut through the log. All's well that ends well🙏 Hope you had a wonderful 83 (watt) birthday Brian 😉and wish you many more years of good health and cheer. Love your spirit and zest for life😍

Highlights from the Swiss Cake Festival. The different categories for the competition were : Wedding cakes, Novelty cake themed Hollywood/Movies, 3D cakes, Decorative sugarcraft showpiece and a category meant for kids with sports theme.

The Nataraja pose sculpted in sugar. My entry for the Category:- Decorative Sugarcraft showpiece at the Swiss Cake Festival competition this year. An experience of its own kind. Have easily put over 30-40 hours in creating this. Starting from the conception of the idea , making the raw materials, putting the structure together and the really patient bit of putting it all together. Here's my beautiful lady in all her poise and grace standing tall at 38cm (15inch).

I entered the Decorative Sugar Element Category and represented the traditional Indian Dance form: Tandav in Bharatnatyam style . Stance of Lord Shiva. The ring of fire depicts the hardships and struggles of life and the dancer's stance depicts standing strong and victorious even in times of struggle. It is so much fun to see how little boys transition to superhero themes so quick. Madhav had a very fun party to celebrate his 3rd birthday and the theme was McQueen, Blaze and Hot Wheels. I was given absolute creative freedom to work with the theme. One thing they were certain about was that they wanted something different and unique:). We decided upon a 3D car cake and I decided to create our cute little McQueen. The name I printed in the Hot Wheels logo fashion . It all just fitted in perfectly with the venue decor:) The cake itself is chocolate sponges with buttercream layers. My first time doing a carved cake and have to admit I was a bundle of nerves when I started and how much I dreaded shaving and carving off cake bits from the one big block of rectangle that I had started with:). I can happily say that in the end I am very content with the way it turned out and happy to bag another skill of sorts with cake making:). Thank you Manan Adlakha and Pooja Adlakha for this wonderful opportunity. Loved Madhav's reaction to the cake. It was precious.
