Solar panels make Morocco’s mosques a model for green energy | DW Environment | DW.COM | 20.02.2017

Morocco's Ministry of Islamic Affairs is adding solar panels to the roofs of mosques in efforts to cover lighting needs and raise awareness about #renewableenergy. "The government believes that energy efficiency and renewable energy are the key to reducing the country's [external power] dependency and providing people with an affordable source of power". 'The wild west of wind': Republicans push Texas as unlikely green energy leader

In a region well known for its development and support of traditional fossil fuels, #windpower is growing in popularity with both liberals and conservatives alike. It offers land rent income to farmers facing drought and creates thousands of jobs across the state, highlighting that #renewableenergy makes clear economic, social and environmental sense.

Tanzanian start-up turns urban waste into

Another #greeneconomy development from Dakar, Tanzania: A new start up is focused on turning plastic into building material, reducing deforestation and plastic waste in the city. The organization also offers monetary incentives for recycling and in some cases pays children's health insurance in exchange for collecting their families' recyclables each week. A win-win!
