Law for Development
Description
The International Law for Sustainable Development (Law4Dev) Facebook page is a content curation initiative. The International Law for Sustainable Development (Law4Dev) Facebook page is a content curation initiative of United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Law for Development portfolio.
The international legal system plays a pivotal role in defining and regulating the governance context in which the new 2030 development agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will operate. International legal frameworks, competent institutions and civil societies serve as instruments to strengthen the three inter-linked pillars of sustainability (social, economic and environmental).
The Knowledge Systems Innovation section of UNITAR, through Law4Dev portfolio, with activities on environmental democracy, international law, environmental law and human rights, delivers capacity development activities to enhance knowledge for the implementation of internationally agreed environmental goals and the SDGs.
The adoption and compliance with international legal mechanisms require specialized knowledge and specific skills.
