English Lessons in Gockhausen and Zurich Who is Isabelle Jones? (scroll down for the French version)

Originally from France, I went to England when I was 18 to be an au pair for 8 months. I ended up staying 15 years and came back with a Welsh husband, a BA in European Studies and Languages from The University of Manchester, a British passport and a baby.

Back in London I used to be a PA in the Private Banking Industry and for the last 5 years I’ve been running my own business as an English teacher, which allows me to spend more time with my family and with a language I love.

My children are now aged 10 and 14, both bilingual and with both a French and English sense of humour! (not easy!

My approach to teaching English as a second language: integrated learning

My main motivation is about understanding what drives my students, discover their interests and passion so English just becomes fun, enjoyable and a means to do more of what they like while learning a new language.

People often tell me I’m a good listener and am very empathetic. I’m naturally adapting to my students’ ages but also styles and needs. Whether you choose private lessons or group lessons, I will bring games, colours, articles of interests and humourous pieces to encourage love of reading, sparkle conversations and debates.

I’m also very keen to explore more specific topics around the arts, history, science, business and economy, society and parenting, so while practicing English we all learn something new, share point of views and are intellectually stimulated.

English culture, references and codes

I loved living in England and my husband helped me immerse myself in the local culture and celebrate all those occasions that shapes the Brits’ everyday life, such as Guy Fawkes, St Patrick’s Day, St George’s Day, Easter or Christmas (like pudding much?) and anything about the Royal family.

Children will be surrounded with nursery rhymes, popular stories like The Gruffalo, The Cat in the Hat, The Very Hungry Caterpillar… and play games that little Brits play at their birthday parties (Simon says “click on that link”).

Professionals will be filled in with all the relevant business vocabulary but also idiomatic and cultural subtleties that might differentiate the Americans from the British and the Australians.
