facebook.comThe Swiss Chemical Society and Syngenta are pleased to announce the 4th edition of a one-day symposium entitled “Natural Products: an ongoing chemist’s success story” on Thursday 5th October 2017. The focus will be on cutting-edge research in natural products and their roles in life science for success in chemical innovation. The journey will cover multiple topics from isolation to synthesis and production.
Process analytical technology (PAT) has been demonstrated as one of the key driver for the future plant automation. More and more smart sensors will be analyzing the critical quality attributes of your product and critical asset performance indicators will provide you a clear picture of your over-all plant fitness. All the collected information could result into a real-time release or “lights-out” manufacturing strategy. For the first time, the Swiss PAT community will meet on the SCS Fall Meeting.
We are delighted to welcome you to the 2nd edition of the ChemEdu event series that started last year with a very successful day at University of Zürich. This year the event takes place at the VonRoll Areal of the University of Bern on August 22, 2017 and is a platform for chemistry teachers of all levels to meet and exchange, covering chemical education from primary school approaches up to academic studies at Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. The goal of the one-day event is to exchange best practice and to formulate strategies to strengthen the chemical education in the curricula on all levels With the hope that you will enjoy your stay at the ChemEdu 2017 and that the event will be the inspiration for numerous innovative solutions, we send our best regards,
2nd Employment Survey for European Chemists (ESEC2) All Swiss chemists and chemistry related scientists are invited to participate in the 2nd Employment Survey for European Chemists (ESEC2). The survey, which is completely anonymous, is accessible until 31 March 2017, and its main objective is to create a clear snapshot of the chemistry labour market.

We are pleased to invite you to the SCS Fall Meeting, the largest annual scientific event held in Switzerland. Given its increased size and popularity, the meeting was extended to an event of one and a half days to better accommodate the one thousand participants, and to also offer new platforms. We are happy and proud to present you a fantastic and diversified program with contributions from academia and industry in all fields of chemistry. The SCS Fall Meeting offers a unique opportunity for all members of the community to share the results of their research initiatives. It also stimulates the exchange of ideas between all generations of chemists, often creating the seeds for new projects and collaborations.

SCS Spring Meeting 2017
The SCS Spring Meeting is an annual, one-day symposium organized by the Division of Fundamental Research (DFR) of the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS) with lectures of national and international top-experts in the field. The 2017 edition will focus on homogeneous catalysis and will show new paradigms with wonderful applications. Speakers: - - - Prof. John Hartwig (Berkeley, USA) - Prof. Morris Bullock (Pacific Northwestern, USA) - Prof. David Milstein (Weizmann, Israel) - Dr. Rocco Paciello (BASF, Germany) - Prof. Pedro Perez (Huelva, Spain) - Prof. Hansjörg Grützmacher (ETHZ) The SCS Spring Meeting is also the platform for the Werner Price Ceremonies and the Werner Award Lectures. The 2017 winners are - Prof. Kevin Sivula, EPF Lausanne, who was awarded for his significant contributions to the advancement of materials and methods for photoelectrochemical energy conversion - Prof. Christof Sparr, University of Basel, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the asymmetric synthesis of single atropisomers of hindered aromatic compounds using organocatalysis. During the lunch track the SCS will hold it's annual general assembly.
13. Freiburger Symposium 2017
The objective of this biannual event is to regularly provide our DIAC members and other interested chemists working in process development and production with opportunities for professional training and networking.
Clariant
Sustainable chemistry plays an important role in the future of our planet. PhD student Laura Büldt won the 2016 #Clariant #Chemistry Award 🎉 at the Universität Basel for her work in photophysical applications of metal complexes. She created photocatalysts, which are critical in harvesting #energy from the sun, water, or wind, based on Earth-abundant rather than precious metals which are often used today. Congratulations, Laura! 🏆Learn more about her research: http://bit.ly/2kuL1zs
