Optimal Control is the art moving a system from state A to state B such that, under certain constraints, a 'target function' is minimised or maximised. In the context of car racing for example, the target is to minimise the time around the track given the constraints of available engine power, tyre grip etc. For a robotics application, it can be to move the robot arm between two positions as fast as possible, but without damaging a delicate payload. 15 years ago I already worked on Optimal Control for the powerful AMST Human Centrifuge. Today, KISS Technologies is excited to return to that field and work with a leading Swiss robot manufacturer on challenging and mathematically beautiful Optimal Control applications.
