Welcome to our Cabin in the heart of some of the best fishing and huntinggrounds in Scandinavia. Welcome to southern Lappland Our beautiful family cabin is located between Dikanäs and Stalon in Marsfjällen area.
The area and activities:
Hunting:
From 24th of August till 31st of January Capercalie (Tjur), Black grouse (urfugl), grouse (fjeldrype) and Hare can be hunted in the forest and mountain ranges surrounding the cabin. From 31st of December till 31st of January it is only allowed to go rifle hunting for Capercalie. There are no fees for the birds/hares you shoot.
From September 7th the moose season starts, and it is an unwritten rule, that the locals get to hunt for moose for the first 2 weeks. In that period of time it is fine to hunt in the mountains for grouse, but we strongly recommend that you stay clear of the forest.
Both Vilhelmina Almenning and Statens Fastighetsverk are selling day or week hunting licenses for small game.
The price for hunting in the forest is SEK 800 per week and you pay Vilhelmina Almeningen.
You can see more here:
http://www.dikanas.eu/jaktomr-allmanningen.php
The price for hunting in the mountains is SEK 260 per day which is paid to Statens Fastighetsverk.
The forest is 52.000 ha. and we can send maps of the area for Vilhelmina Almeningen.
Remember the Swedish state hunting license. It costs SEK 300 and you can find info here:
http://www.naturvardsverket.se/…/…/Sa-betalar-du-jaktkortet/.

You must declare that you are bringing a weapon into Sweden.
You can find more info here:

Hunting in the Norther Swedish forests is a different experience than hunting in Denmark. A guide is recommended in these large areas for those unfamiliar with north Scandinavian hunting and we will be happy to help you arrange for a local experience guide at a fair price.
Our guide Jonas costs SEK 2.500 per day including dog. We strongly recommend that you use dogs for hunting since the areas are very big.
If you bring your own dog, remember to have all vaccinations updated. If you get stopped at the border, you can get a fine and be denied entry.
A 30 -60 minutes car drive will take you to the mountain range where you can hunt for grouse. All licenses can be bought in Stalon, Dikanäs and Grönfjäll.
Fishing:
Within a three minute walk you will find two great lakes for fishing perch, trout and arctic char.
The nearby Matskan area is a perfect fly fishing spot for trout in the many smaller streams. Perch, Pike and Greyling can also be found in the area. Fishing license can be bought in Stalon or Dikanäs.
Skiing:
Kittelfjäl is only around a 40 minute drive from the cabin. http://www.kittelfjall.com/
Kittefjäl is considered some of Swedens best skiing, and there are plenty of challenges on the black slopes for the experienced skier, but it also allows beginners to start out softy on the beginner slopes.

Beautiful sunrise here at the cabin <3 Not sure what phenomenon is causing sunrises like this, but we were grateful to get to experience it.

A couple more pictures from our second summer vacation in the cabin. These are from our little canoe/camping/fishing expeditions in the nearby lakes and areas. The weather has been quite good and now that there has been colder temperatures at night, all the mosquitos are gone :) The days are sunny and a little crisp in the morning, but absolutely beautiful. We are almost done painting the trimmings/windows/doors of the house, cabin, playhouse and garage outside. Just wait till you see the result. It's like a new house. (Pictures will come shortly). We also gave the downstairs kitchen and master bedroom a makeover and added a new double bed for one of the upstairs bedrooms. It's all coming together nicely. Next project this fall is the living room and for summer 2017 we should have painted the rest of the house in a beautiful gray/blue color AND have a brand new fast internet connection up and running :) Hooray for modern technology - even all the way up here. You can rent our cabin and take the canoes out fishing or just enjoy some of the beautiful hikes in the nature surrounding the cabin. Skiing is available at the nearby Kittelfjäl ski resort in the winter time as well as ice fishing or renting a snow scooter and go sightseeing in the area.
