facebook.comAt a youth soccer game you'll probably hear parents and coaches on the sidelines yelling, 'Pass the ball! Pass the ball!' ... When we continually tell our young players to pass the ball, we're not allowing them to develop their full potential, especially those who have the ability to take their opponents on and beat them one-on-one. As a result, we run the risk of diminishing a player's artistry and potential."

Maritzburg Sports Academy of Excellece at the MDFA 5-a-side tournament. Well done to MDFA for hosting a successful tournament where football was the winner at the end of the day.
Why couldn’t you beat a richer club? I’ve never seen a bag of money score a goal. Hahahaaaa
Choose the best player for every position, and you’ll end up not with a strong XI, but with 11 strong 1’s. The legend Johan.
I find it terrible when talents are rejected based on computer stats. Based on the criteria at Ajax now I would have been rejected. When I was 15, I couldn’t kick a ball 15 meters with my left and maybe 20 with my right. My qualities technique and vision, are not detectable by a computer. Johan Cruyff

FAMILY FUN DAY
The mindset of our youth, South African rugby player vs South African soccer player. Last week I was invited by Howard Noble ( Voortrekker Hoerskool's 1st Team rugby and conditioning coach ) to a 5am gym session this morning. On arrival about 20 boys were all ready to start working,he took out his marker and wrote on the white board the program for the morning. Without hesitation the boys started stretching and started working, the work ethic second to none. At 6am a second group of boys arrived greeted looked at the white board and started training. While working out with the boys,I started asking some questions. He told me it took him a while to change the mindset and even with limited equipment, they still having fun. In saying all this, where has it all go wrong in soccer? Has the system failed us? Has Coaching education failed us?have coaches robbed our youth soccer players from having fun? I've watched so many training sessions at Primary Scools where coaches make the kids run laps around the fields. While all these kids want is the ball. Are we destroying our childrens love for the game?
