Zibambeleni Old Age Home
Description
We are an old age home. We cater for older persons in terms of shelter food etc....The organisation has been inexistence for more than 40 years and is still going strong. The organisation was formed by women back in the late 1960's after a destitute man was found looking for a place in the Clermont area. A group of women the started an institution called the Clermont Women;s Society. At that time, they were still heavily working under and with the auspices of the International Rotary Club, which was helpful in seeking funding. With that assistance, the building you see today was really the work of the intention to shelter (by the Society) and the Rotary. The offshoot of their intention was the Old Age Home. Today, it is responsible for providing shelter for approximately 170 residents. The units that are outside are mostly for the independent or 'upand about' residents /older persons. We are an old age home which also provides an essential service.
We have close ties with a lot of organisations, and that has been built over a number of years. Having been in existence for close to 49 years, (42 of which is at least that is recorded) , and established by black women, at a time, when women did not have many rights/in fact no rights at all, as well them having sustained this organisation with prayer and perseverance,, they are an integral success to what this home is and is about. LADIES, WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF YOU. The legacy you have set is a shining example for many to follow.
