PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE When People are told that they need root canal treatment they usually think pain, however the pain they feel is caused by the infection in the tooth, not the root canal treatment. Root canal is done to eliminate pain. The root canal treatment itself is painless. Many teeth that need root canal treatment will not cause pain but it does not mean that your tooth is okay, an x-ray is taken to see if the pulp in the tooth is infected, if it is you then need root canal treatment. This treatment is done to save the tooth not remove it. The nerve and pulp is removed, not your roots. The canals are then shaped and cleaned on the inside only. Once the nerve and pulp are removed you will no longer feel pain. Thermoplastic material is then selected to fit the prepared canals. It is then heated along with adhesive cement, sealing the canals so that it prevents the tooth from being infected with bacteria again - This is the actual root canal filling A filling is then placed to seal the hole that was made to treat the canals. A crown is advised to all root canal patients to avoid future fracture on the root canal treated tooth. PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE Good Morning ! DID YOU KNOW, Crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic dental devices. Unlike removable devices such as dentures which you can take out and clean daily. Crowns and bridges are cemented onto existing teeth and can only be removed by a dentist. WHEN IS A CROWN USED ? - To protect a tooth from fracture - Cover a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth - Cover a root canal tooth CROWN PROCEDURE : - The first step is to take an impression ( measurement ) of the mouth before the preparation, this is used to get the shape of the crown - During the preparation, the tooth is cut and shaped so that the crown can be placed correctly, also to insure to retention and stability - Another impression is then taken after the preparation - A shade guide is used to take the correct shade of your natural teeth for your new crown - To ensure that the crown will be comfortable for the patient when biting, a wax bite is taken - A temporary crown is made specifically for you, while you wait Manufacturing of the crown takes a week ,during this time the temporary crown is placed onto the prepared tooth. On your next visit the temporary crown is removed and the final crown is then cemented. Remember teeth are always in style ! Dr Fill Dental Team 0314648336 ( MALVERN ) 0314045889 ( CHATSWORTH )

PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE WHAY ARE REGULAR VISITS IMPORTANT ? Regular dental visits are important because they keep your teeth and gums healthy .You should have a regular visit at least every 6 months . WHAT HAPPENS AT YOUR VISIT ? There are 2 parts to your visit 1. The check up 2. The cleaning THE CHECK UP During your check up we check for cavities, take x-rays and see if there is any plaque or tartar under your teeth. We also make note of all your required treatment. Plaque is a sticky layer of bacteria .If it is not removed it can become tartar. You cannot remove tartar with brushing and flossing .If plaque and tartar build up on your teeth, they can cause oral diseases. Next your gums will be checked. This will be done with a special tool to measure the spaces between your teeth and gums .When people have gum disease, the spaces become deeper. THE CLEANING During the cleaning , your dental professional will use a scaler to remove the tartar. This is called scaling. After your teeth are scaled, they will be polished. A gritty paste is used for this. It helps remove any surface stains on your teeth. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO BETWEEN VISITS - Brush twice a day. Be sure to use a fluoride toothpaste - Floss at least once a day - Use a mouthwash to get rid of bacteria. This will also freshen your breath. PLEASE CALL US TO SCEHEDULE YOUR REGULAR CHECK UP. PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE CHROME DENTURES Chrome dentures are less bulky, stronger alternative to plastic dentures. This type of denture consists of a metal framework. It is generally considered to be a more permanent partial denture unlike plastic dentures. Chrome dentures are clipped to the natural teeth with clasps. The clasps hold the denture firm and it stops any damage caused by up and down movement. Chrome dentures are far superior to plastic dentures because, they are thinner and therefor help the gums stay healthier. In certain designs of chrome dentures, there is an open palate, allowing taste unlike plastic dentures. ADVANTAGES OF A CHROME DENTURE - Stronger than a plastic dentures & is recommended to those whose dentures frequently break - Can be made thinner so it will be less bulky - Biting force is shared between the gums and the remaining teeth. - Your palate is exposed, allowing taste as well as hot and cold sensations - Discreet PLEASE CALL US TO SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT AND TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE MOST SUITABLE DENTURE FOR YOU OR YOUR LOVED ONE Dr Fill Dental Team Dentistry Our Profession, People Our Passion Malvern - 0314648336 Chatsworth - 0314045889

PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE Just because you cant see it doesn't mean it isn't there.Teeth actually begin to form in the second trimester of pregnancy. At birth your baby has 20 primary teeth. Some of which are fully developed in the jaw . WHEN SHOULD KIDS START BRUSHING ? > Before your baby starts teething, run a damp wash cloth over the gums to clear away harmful bacteria > Once your baby gets teeth, brush them with an infant toothbrush.Use water and a tiny bit of toothpaste > You can begin flossing your baby's teeth as soon as their teeth touch > Around 2 years your baby should learn how to spit while brushing > Always supervise kids under 6 years old as they would swallow the toothpaste Dr Fill Dental Team 0314648336 ( Malvern) 0314045889 ( Chatsworth )
