EXTENSION PERIOD: EXTERNAL BURSARY FUND ACADEMIC YEAR 2017 Theewaterskloof Municipality in conjunction with the Western Cape Department of Local Government allocated three (3) External Bursaries to qualify for studies. Current students who successfully completed matric during 2016 and who are registered with an Academic Institution can apply. * The bursaries will apply to prospective students in the learning areas below: • Engineering (Civil, Water, Sanitation, Electricity etc.) • Financial Management (Economics, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Internal Audit & Risk Management) • Town Planning and Building • Artisan (Plumbing, Bricklaying, Plastering, Carpenter, Electrician, Motor Mechanic Minimum Requirements 1. Must reside in Theewaterskloof Municipal Area 2. Proof of a recently passed Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with results 3. Proof of registration for 2016 at a registered education institution 4. Proof of parents/Guardian’s total income (not to exceed R 10 000 per month) 5. Learners from the designated Employment Equity groups, particularly Disabled people are encouraged to apply Closing date: 15 June 2017 Interested candidates must send their covering letter with ID copy certified and matric certificate to josepham@twk.org.za or it can be hand delivered for attention Mr J Amansure to the Municipal Office at 6 Plein Street, Caledon 7230

In collaboration with National and Provincial government, a five day “Start and Improve your Business” training programme is planned to take place in the Overberg Region. This programme is offered to individuals who have a business idea and wish to take it further to develop it into a sustainable and going concern. The course programme is outlined below. Generate Your Business : Is a training programme for people who want to start a business but are not sure of the business idea to pursue. It assists potential entrepreneurs to identify different business ideas, to analyse them and select the most promising one. Start Your Business : Is a training programme for potential entrepreneurs who want to start a small business and already have a concrete business idea. It is a combination of training, field work and after training support, and helps participants assess their readiness to start a business. It covers modules like : 1. Assess your readiness to start a business 2. The Business Plan 3. Reinforce Your Business Plan 4. The Marketing Plan 5. Staff 6. Organization and Management 7. Buying For Your Business 8. Financial Planning 9. Required Start –Up Capital 10. Types and Sources of Start –Up Capital Improve Your Business : Introduces already practicing entrepreneurs to good principles of business management. It covers six modules which are : 1. Marketing 2. Costing 3. Buying and Stock Control 4. Record Keeping 5. Planning your business 6. People and Productivity

THEEWATERSKLOOF WEATHER WARNING Due to a powerful cold front which is currently moving into the Western Cape, the South African Weather Service issued a warning of strong winds, cold and above average rainfall in an area, including Theewaterskloof, from tonight. These conditions are expected to last till Thursday. The municipality urges residents to be prepared for the expected heavy rains and cold conditions.
