Development report and field report of SG VPP motor A lot of time has passed since we started to persuade SG-Glavak to develop VPP motors. They finally agreed to start with development after receiving information about WAG competition in Dubai. In the summer I started to perform tests on 1st prototype. First impressions were great, but I must admit that I burned some electronic components during the tests. ;) Mainly because we wanted to try some really crazy combinations but it helped to find limits of mechanical design and input for further development. The 2nd prototype of motors proved to be safer and we were already very close to final version. I tested SG VPP 01 with 2300kV motor with 3S LiPo and SG VPP 02 with 3050kV motor with 2S LiPo. I think that 1st option provided "unlimited performance power" for approx. 180gr model and 2nd option for approx. 160gr model. The SG VPP 01 motor on 3S was in my opinion still a little bit too hot and dangerous for a heavier model. I wanted to finally have a safe and reliable VPP system, because I was tired of never ending repairs in the past. SG-Glavak provided me SG VPP 03 1950kV motors, which find their place on two models built for WAG. With this motors I am very happy, they proved to be very reliable - in all the training flights, not a single problem occurred. Other components are: Castle Talon 15A ESC, Thunder Power 3S 325mAh 70C LiPOs and JR DS318 servos for pitch and vector. SG-Glavak VPP motors are for sure the best VPP motors I ever tried. Power and reliability are great. Because of precise balancing, vibrations do not occur, so the tuning of Mamo VPP system is easy. Titanium 3mm shaft and pads for soldering wires directly are great solutions. No more problems with bent shafts and broken wires. In my opinion, SG VPP 02 motor on high-C 2S LiPOs is great for approx. 160gr normal size model, which is ideal for flying in small halls with less than 8m ceiling. For bigger halls, I decided for bigger model powered by SG VPP 03 and 3S. RTF weight is approx. 178gr and I don´t complain about power at all. New motors demanded also new TVVPP system, so I designed new TVVPP system 2015. Andres Leoni helped me a lot with some great ideas. He was also involved in the development of motors and did a great job. His WAG models weights only 163gr and is powered by SG VPP 01 motor with 2300kV and 3S. For sure the most powerful VPP model I ever saw, the evidence is unbelievable negative rolling climb. ;) It was a pleasure for me to take part at development of a new VPP motor.
