Friends and Guests, Many guests have asked why the name Alcaide ? Where did the name came from ? The answer is simple it's the name of the village where my mother was born. My mother was born in the Alcaide village. The village is near the city Fundão and also near to the highest mountain in Portugal called Serra da Estrela (2000 m). If you want to see a typical Portuguese village go to Alcaide. You will love it. We finally have the renovation project approved by the city hall and Tourism of Portugal and if everything goes well accordingly to plan the renovation and construction should start in October of 2017 until then enjoy with us this last season of the old Alcaide.
