Equine Sport's massage for injured horses, or for monthly maintenance Hi everyone, I am a fully qualified Equine Sport's physio. Over ten years ago I qualified with a distinction diploma from the Institute of complimentary animal therapies in the UK, and have been helping horses Internationally since. I've assisted racehorses AND animal cruelty cases in Cyprus, and trust me, when I say cruelty, I mean things from your nightmares. I have worked in the UK and now I am in the Algarve. There are many forms of Equine physiotherapy and I use the Swedish technique of Myofascial release (deep and shallow muscular tissue work). I incorporate some reiki and Shiatsu along with remedial stretches which I can teach you to help maintain your horses' balance and flexibility. An initial evaluation can take 2 hrs, or more, and I check all your horses tack to form a balanced opinion of what is going on. Follow up massages may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and forty five minutes, it is tailor made for your horse and his/her needs. I charge 45 (plus travel expense) euros for this first visit and subsequent visits are 35 euros. You will need to be present as some horses will need to be held and reassured by their owner that what I am doing is helping them smile emoticon I'll post all about massage and the benefits below, but thank you for visiting my page and I hope to see you and your horse soon.

They are starting to see the benefits of the techniques I incorporate in my sessions and I'm proud to say that I have now been regularly referred by two vets here in the Algarve, for their clients. This shows an open mind and a willingness to accept skills that are a wonderful addition to veterinary medicine. I'm very proud to be trusted by such professionals. Don't fall for flashy movement. A horse with a deliberately shortened neck, relative to level of training CANNOT use its back to develop that swing and relaxation that we seek. Overall, we should seek to make our horses happy and comfortable, not utilise gadgets and training techniques that make our horses look 'flash and amazing' to the detriment of their well being.
