Wernisaż Wystawy "Sztuka Pokoju" | "The Art of Peace" Opening

*For English, scroll down* „Sztuka pokoju. Izrael w oczach dzieci” to wystawa kuratorki Maureen Kushner prezentująca prace młodych Żydów, Arabów i Druzów oraz dzieci etiopskich i rosyjskich emigrantów stworzone na przestrzeni ponad 15 lat. Kiedy media obiegały informacje o kolejnych zamachach terrorystycznych w Izraelu, mali artyści malowali pokój, o którym marzą. Niektórzy z nich sami doświadczyli koszmaru wojny. Dzięki zaangażowaniu w sztukę oraz dzięki atmosferze, w której tworzyli – pełnej śmiechu i miłości – byli w stanie pokonać swoje lęki i zapomnieć o cierpieniu, powołując do życia wizje pokoju, tolerancji i nadziei. --- Thursday, October 6th the exhibition “The Art Of Peace. Israel through the Eyes of Children” by curator Maureen Kushner opened at the JCC. The exhibition consists of paintings created over more than fifteen years by young Jews, Arabs, Druze and the children of Russian and Ethiopian immigrants to Israel. These children created visions of peace in the Middle East in spite of having personally experienced the horrors of war. Please see the photos of the exhibition below and we invite you to the JCC to see these hopeful images of harmony and tolerance.

Polish women working in Jewish organizations join strike over proposed tightened abortion law

Więcej na ten temat przeczytać można w artykule JTA: --- Women across Poland united to protest the proposed tightened abortion laws through an organized work strike on October 3rd, "Black Monday." Jewish women and those working in Jewish organizations across the country, the JCC included, participated in this event which resulted in a recall of the proposal by the Polish government. Profesje romskie" zawiera opowieści Romów z Polski, Słowacji i Czech o ich pracy dawniej i obecnie, o ginących profesjach romskich, o problemach Romów z integracją i ich próbach odnalezienia się na współczesnym rynku pracy. Produkcja ta jest rezultatem projektu "Rzemiosła i profesje romskie" (2015), prowadzonego przez Fundacja Dobra Wola z Krakowa w partnerstwie z Muzeum Kultury Romów na Słowacji (Martin, Słowacja) oraz Muzeum Romskiej Kultury (Brno, Czechy) dofinansowanego przez Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego. --- Sunday, October 9, 5:00pm, JCC Krakow - Screening of the Movie "Butia Romani. Romani Occupations". The JCC would like to invite you to a screening of "Butia Romani: Romani Occupations" this Sunday at 5 pm. This film features conversations with Roma from Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic about their lives, the loss of traditional Romani occupations, Roma problems with integration and attempts to adapt to the modern world of work. This project, "Romani Occupations" (2015), was undertaken by Foundation Dobra Wola in Krakow in full partnership with the Museum of Romani Culture in Martin, Slovakia and in Brno, Czech Republic, and made possible by funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

*For English, scroll down* Z okazji Rosz Haszana wspólnie wybraliśmy się do Żydowskiego Muzeum Galicja na Pszczelną Niedzielę! Tradycyjne życzenia “Słodkiego Nowego Roku” mają odzwierciedlenie także w potrawach, wśród których króluje miód. Podczas warsztatów wspólnie prześledziliśmy drogę miodu od ula znajdującego się na dachu muzeum aż do słoiczków, które wspólnie udekorowaliśmy. #miód #roszhaszana --- We invited children and their parents to the Family Sunday program. During the workshop we traced the path of honey from a beehive located on the roof of the Galicia Jewish Museum to jars, which we decorated together. #honey #roshhashanah

*For English, scroll down* Podczas drugiej serii warsztatów ceramicznych wykończyliśmy ozdobne owoce granatu, które przyozdobiły nasze stoły na święto Rosh Hashanah! --- JCC members of all ages participated in the second session of the Rosh Hashanah ceramic workshops. Participants glazed the pomegranates they created in the first session, and these made beautiful table decorations for our Rosh Hashanah celebrations! Beautiful work!

Karolina jest studentką II roku studiów magisterskich na filologii polskiej i judaistyce na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim. Interesuje się przede wszystkim literaturą współczesną – polską i jidysz. W ramach pracy magisterskiej bada twórczość Awroma Suckewera. Swoją przygodę z językiem jidysz zaczynała w Instytucie Judaistyki. She is currently researching the work of Avrom Sutskever. Her interest in Yiddish language began during her studies in the Jewish Studies Institute.
