CIPM Rivers
Description
CIPM Rivers is the Rivers State's branch of the Chartered Institute Of Personnel Management Of Nigeria. The Rivers State Branch of the Institute was inaugurated in 1983. At its inception, the Branch coordinated both the activities of the State and Bayelsa under the pioneer chairmanship of Nze Daniel Iloh, FCIPM. The elder statesman steered the affairs of the Branch for ten years using his office as the Branch Secretariat and venue for Branch meetings. The practice continued with the next Branch Chairman, Chief E.S. Lawson in 1992 until 1996 when Mr. Collins Edebiri, FCIPM became the Branch Chairman that a Secretariat was opened at 50, Woji Road Rumurolu in Woji. In 2001 the Bayelsa State Branch was inaugurated when the activities of the Rivers State branch became too crowded to coordinate the activities of the Branch.
Within the period, the Branch performance was outstanding as it took the best branch award successively from 2001 through 2005.
Students’ participating at the learning centre in the Branch study centre have excelled in their career mobility as the performance of the centre has spoken dominance in the professional examinations of the Institute since the Centre was accredited in 2009. Over the years, successive executives had made outstanding contributions to the present day. Today, the Branch membership strength stands at over 800.
In view of the distance and commuting challenges that has hampered active participation of HR professionals and the need to extend the frontiers of the Institute, the Branch has concluded arrangements for the formation of Personnel Practitioners Consultative Association (PPCA) in University of Port Harcourt and Choba environs with the potential of over 400 members to be inaugurated. Similar arrangements are almost concluded in Onne and Bonny axis of Rivers State. This would deepen involvement of members in these catchment areas and spread the tentacles of the Branch to create greater awareness and visibility for the Institute.
