Health and Life International (HEALIN) is a faith-based Non-governmental organization, established in 1995 out of the concern for the deteriorating health standard of rural dwellers in most African and developing  nations. HEALIN emerged as a Missions initiative of Embracing the Nations Ministries Inc. USA, aimed at reaching out to, and improving the health of women under its flagship programme known as “The Healthy Woman”. This eventually metamorphosed into an affiliate institution with a separate management structure now known as Health and Life International, whose uniqueness lies in its community-based approach that empowers local communities to address issues and problems confronting them through advocacy and self-help projects.

In this regard, Health & Life International has deployed enormous human, technical and financial resources to the service of communities by attending to the various health needs of the less privileged in particular and the wider society in general. Some key areas of interest on which Health and Life has focused her interventions include Community Health care, HIV/AIDS, Reproductive Health, Women Empowerment, Maternal Child Health, and Youth Development.


In a world where it is said that “Health is Wealth”, HEALIN seeks to sensitize, provide health education, as well as on-the-spot medical diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and diseases (made worse by poverty and poor economic conditions) as much as feasible – based on capacity and resources, with special interest on women and children.

Health and Life International has carried out various interventions in collaboration with Government and Donor Agencies over the past decade. Some of the most notable interventions include, Community-based Medical Outreaches, HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing both in communities and in our stand-alone HCT centre and Skills Acquisition training projects. We have also carried out several Advocacy and Community Mobilization campaigns for   the Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV, as well as Behavior Change Communication interventions for Out-of-school youths, Uniformed Service-men, including the staff and inmates of Nigeria Prisons (Port Harcourt) and Nigeria Police Force, Female Sex Workers, Voter Education and promotion of youth participation in democratic process in Rivers State.

While our work spans over 450 communities in about 7 States of Nigeria, we have been privileged to partner with UNICEF, Society for Family Health (SFH), Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Bayelsa, Rivers, Anambra, Delta, Benue, Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi State Governments, the NYSC, the World Bank, and many other notable individual and corporate partners including local Churches and Embracing the Nations Ministries Inc. USA.
Our reputable board of directors provides governance and oversight. Our highly professional management team guides our in-country operations in Nigeria, with technical support from our USA operations.
