non-profit dev't communication orgn supporting young people to stay away from violence, create jobs for themselves and participate in democratic governance Founded on October 1, 2011 in Abuja-Nigeria, Journalists Initiative for Youth Empowerment (Ji4Ye) is a Non-Governmental Organisation best known for her innovative use of media and communications to reduce youth unemployment, youth radicalization and youth apathy in the democratic process. Currently, we work in Jos and Niger Delta where high youth unemployment poses great threat to sustainable peace and development.

Our area of intervention in development communication includes; Behaviour Change Communications (BCC), Campaigns, Messaging, Participatory & Street Theatre Performances, Mobile-Cinema Video Dialogue, Voices of Change, Investigative report, Success stories, Graphics, Soap Opera, Newspaper/Magazines, Interviews, Radio Drama, TV documetaries, Music concert, Ringtone, Bulk SMS, Infographs, Reportage, Web & Social Media, Media trainings, Media tracking and research, Content creation and several other communication and media tools and techniques.

Currently, Ji4Ye is an implementing partner in some of the Federal Government’s leading youth employment programmes, including the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P)’s Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWiN) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)’s Job Advisory Counselling (JAC). Similarly, Ji4Ye has worked with big NGOs in developing, implementing or cordinating more creative communication and media programmes which enhanced their works and increased impacts.


Ji4Ye is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission-CAC/IT/NO 60372, and also recognized by the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja. Ref: NUJ/CAC/1/II/12/Vol 1. Ji4Ye is a member of the Youth Employment Network (YEN), an inter-agency institution of the UN, ILO and the World Bank. Also, Ji4Ye is on the Database of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of ECOSOC; and participated in the UN’s e-dicussion on jobs, decent work and inclusive growth. We facilitated two sessions on developing project communications strategy, as well as developing communication strategy for engaging People Living With Disability (PLWD) for 'Promoting Women's Engagement in Peace and Security in Northern Nigeria' Programme in Yola, Adamawa state yesterday. The Programme is funded by the European Union and Implemented by UN Women in partnership with UNICEF, and the Federal and State Ministries of Women Affairs and Social Development.
