Have you ever wondered if you pay too much rent? In the Netherlands, landlords are bound to a maximum allowed basic rent price (the amount of rent excluding service costs) for student rooms. The rent is determined on the basis of a number of criteria, eg. how big your room is and what facilities are in the house. You can calculate your own basic rent by using a point system. The Dutch Student Union, Landelijke Studentenvakbond - LSVb, has launched a campaign against high rent prices this week.
