One use of the nodachi was to fight from horseback. Often it was used in place of a polearm because the length of it's blade made it perfect for cutting down an enemy and his horse in one fell swoop. This Huanuo Nodachi sword is made of 1060 high carbon steel with a polished mirror-like surface. The blade is handforged, heat treated and throughardened which gives it great strength and flexibility. The blade is full tang with with silk Ito, genuine same' (rayskin), iron fittings, and black matte wood saya. http://www.samurai-katana-shop.nl/en/huanuo-sword-art/285-nodachi-huanuo-.html

The Bastard sword made by Huanuo sword is an extremely functional hand and a half sword. You can abtain extra strenght with this sword if you put your second hand on the pommel and grip. These swords were very popular in the 14th and 15th centuries. It is a long and wide blade which can be placed with tremendous force. Yet it's relatively light with a wood handle wrapped with leather. The sword has a delicious balance by the fuller in the blade and pommel which also can serve as a weapon already. A functional and sharp bastard sword according to the high standards of Huanuo with beautiful leather sheath. http://www.samurai-katana-shop.nl/en/european-swords/287-bastard-sword.html

Koi Katana - Hanwei forge It is said that a Koi swims up rivers and climbs waterfalls with bravery not unlike a Samurai warrior. As well, it is said that if a Koi is caught, it will lie still beneath the knife, facing its death bravely like a Samurai facing a sword. The Koi Katana from Paul Chen has a hand-forged T10 high-carbon steel blade. The blade on this katana is differentially hardened using the traditional claying method. The beautifull tsuba is very detailled! http://www.samurai-katana-shop.nl/en/forged-katana/165-koi-katana-.html

Honshu Wolf Katana - a new hanwei katana handforged of T10 HCS with a nice hamon. Here a little review of this eyecandy I placed on a forum. The Honshū wolf or Japanese wolf is one of the two extinct subspecies of the gray wolf once endemic to the islands of Japan. The Honshū wolf occupied the islands of Honshū, Shikoku, and Kyūshū in Japan. The wolf was afforded a benign place in Japanese folklore and religious traditions: the clan leader Fujiwara no Hidehira was said to have been raised by wolves, and the wolf is often symbolically linked with mountain kami in Shinto. The blade or Kami is handforged of T10 high carbon steel and differentially tempered using traditional claying methods. As a result of yakiire the gunome midare based on notare hamon or temperline is evident and clearly visible. The Suguta is Shinogi Zukuri with Torii Zori (curve) with a geometric O-kissaki. A Bo-hi on the Shinogiji to reduce weigth and improve cutting power and gives an excellent balance with a loud tachi-kaze. The The Iori (roof) Mune which came very populair after koto period in Japan. The blade shows a nice ko maru boshi. The Tsuka features genuine black Same (Rayskin) on the Tsuka, with a tightly-woven grey cotton wrap (Tsuka-Ito). The tang is double-pegged with mekugi ana for security. All the blackened steel fittings are decorated in Honshu Wolf motif and shows some delicate details. The black grey silk ito and black gey striped lacquered saya are beautifull finished. Specifications: Nagasa: 71 cm Tsuka: 29 cm Overall: 103 cm Motohaba (bottom width): 3,20 cm Motokasane (bottom blade thickness): 7 mm Sakihaba (yokote width): 2,1 cm Sakikasane (yokote thickness): 5 mm Sori: 1,93 cm Weight: 1170 gram http://www.samurai-katana-shop.nl/en/forged-katana/286-honshu-wolf-katana.html
