Honours Design Challenge Op 1 februari vond de finale van het thema de Honours Design Challenge plaats in Café de Sleutel. Het interdisciplinaire honoursthema van Engineering. Van studenten van Sensor Technologie tot studenten van Marketing & Communicatie namen deel. Vier pitches met ideeën over het leefbaarder maken van het A-kwartier in Groningen. De vier juryleden (de opdrachtgever vanuit de gemeente Groningen, een buurtbewoner en twee medewerkers van het Instituut voor Engineering) kozen unaniem voor één project. Een project waar met behulp van sensoren het lopen door de straten van het A-Kwartier een echte belevenis wordt! Dit project zal de gemeente tot daadwerkelijk uitvoering laten brengen. Het was weer een groot succes!

There are a few places left. Don't hesitate, just come! The day will be in the Energy Barn. It is very close to the Hanze (Zernike campus), the address is Zernikelaan 17. If you come by OV/public transport: get off at the bus stop P+R Zernike/Zernike Noord. Then walk a little further, till you see the Energy Barn at your right. Beste medestudenten, Wij zijn voor een onderzoek op zoek naar proefpersonen! (omgeving Groningen). Het is een onderzoek van de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, afdeling Bewegingswetenschappen, in samenwerking met de Hanze Hogeschool, afdeling Fysiotherapie. We willen bij volleyballers en basketballers van 18 jaar en ouder onderzoek doen naar het effect van inspanning op de pijndrempel, zowel bij sporters met als zonder kniepeesklachten (jumper's knee). We zullen tweetallen maken van iemand met klachten en iemand zonder klachten. De metingen zullen vervolgens blind uitgevoerd worden. Zitten er daarom in jouw team geen mensen met klachten, dan kun je helaas niet deelnemen. We zullen voorafgaande aan een training een aantal vragenlijsten afnemen en daarna zullen we voor, tijdens en na de training de pijndrempel op beide knieën en op de dominante elleboog meten (middels een druk algometer). Dit kan gewoon aan de kant van de sporthal en duurt hooguit een paar minuutjes. De inclusiecriteria: - Leeftijd: 18 jaar of ouder - Je traint minimaal 1x per week - Je bent niet in behandeling voor je kniepeesklachten - Je kunt ondanks je klachten je reguliere trainingen volgen en afmaken Doe jij aan volleybal of basketbal, zitten er in jouw team mensen met kniepeesklachten (of heb je zelf klachten) en vind je het goed dat wij eenmalig tijdens een training een aantal metingen komen doen, laat het ons vooral weten!! Stefano, Eazen, Johan, Nienke * English * Dear fellow students, We are looking for participants for a study we’re doing! (area of Groningen). It’s a study performed by a student of the University of Groningen (department of Sport Sciences) in collaboration with the Hanze University (department of Physiotherapy). We want to study the influence of exercise on pain thresholds in volleyball and basketball players of 18 years and older, with and without knee tendon complaints (jumper’s knee). We will make pairs of people with and without complaints, after which the measurements will be performed blinded. Therefore, if there are no athletes with knee tendon complaints in your team, you cannot participate. Before the training session, you will be asked to fill out some questionnaires. After that, pain thresholds of both knee tendons and of the dominant elbow (extensor tendon) will be measured (with a pressure algometer) before, during and after the training session. This can be done on the side of the field and takes only a couple of minutes. The inclusion criteria: - Age: 18 years or older - You train at least once a week - You are currently not receiving any treatment for your knee tendon complaints - You can finish your regular training sessions despite your complaints Are you a volleyball or basketball player, are there people with knee tendon complaints in your team (or do you have complaints yourself) and are you okay with us taking some measurements during one training session? As a part of the Honours Community Day, there will be a Project of the Year Award. This will be a Hanze-wide competition within the honours community where any group of students will have the opportunity to present a project concept for the upcoming academic year (2017-2018). During the community day we will organise an project market at which students are offered the change to present their ideas. In this way you might find new group members, get new creative ideas from other other students and might win 500 euro for you project. 🎉 The project concept must meet the following requirements: • It is conceived by honours students from the same school or different schools (and possibly teachers as well) • The concept is still in preliminary phase and has not yet been implemented • It has a direct connection with a current problem in the society and/or in the professional practice • It is not yet a part of the regular curriculum • It can be conducted in the next academic year (2017/2018) You can find the submission form on Blackboard! Met die vraag zijn Honoursstudenten van de Hanze aan de slag gegaan in de wijk.
