TAKARA - ceremonial kimono as an art.
CEREMONIAL KIMONO - TAKARA -
NOW AVAILABLE - FOR SALE - Proudly I would like to announce my first art work using Kimono is available for sale. Ceremonial Kimono as works of art. "TAKARA - treasure" by Azumi Uchitani My grandmother was a kimono maker. From mother to daughter, from generation to generation, "kimono" was kept alive in our female blood line. From my mother, I learned about kimono, how to handle it, how to value it, how to treasure it, how to store it, how to wear it.... It is a ritual like a tea ceremony. Sacred. I encounter quality vintage Kimonos with a history which are not in use any longer and forgotten. To give a sacred place, "temple", for Kimono, I came up with this design. <DETAILS > Size : 1m x 1m Kimono* : 100 % silk (high quality finishing with gold embroidery), vintage Frame : woods, made in the Netherlands The background : gold Price : Special price for FB friends - € 3,500 (from € 4,250) more info see https://www.japanesesalonshop.com/listing/495366830/ceremonial-kimono-takara office@azumiuchitani.com

See the world history from the works of art. - a fine example of "Nanban Art". 16th century Japanese works of art made for the Portuguese missionaries, with Japanese laquer and mother of pearl inlay. "Nanban art" refers Japanese works of art made for the traders and missionaries from Europe. It developed after the first Portuguese ships arrived in Kyushu in 1543. Amazing piece!!!
Power and mastery of the blank space — Toko Shinoda | The Japan Times
the international women's day.... This Japanese lady -No to be missed - Toko Shinoda, 103 years old Japanese artist, still working as a artist. Probably the oldest "active" artist alive. One of the greatest contemporary artist, who I adore. Her work is reflection of who she is: Elegant, courageous, with the power of silence. We have a big collection of her works by a private collector in Holland as well. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2013/05/22/arts/power-and-mastery-of-the-blank-space-toko-shinoda/#.WMD5ljx4WEc
