www.lovanetwerk.nl Born out of the call and need for feminism in Dutch social science in the seventies, LOVA in was founded in 1978 as the “Landelijk Overleg Vrouwen en Antropologie” – National Deliberation Women and Anthropology. LOVA pushed for gaining territory and respect at universities and slowly but slightly feminist anthropology was taken up in academic curricula. Women’s and later gender studies conquered their way into the anthropological faculties as theorists from U.S. and U.K. lead the way. Many anthropologists have since explored this important arena. It entails areas of common interest such as development, ethnicity, multiculturality, poverty, conflict, globalization, gender, sexuality and feminist anthropology.
