The FOTOfactory Amsterdam: International Summer school of Photography in Amsterdam 2018. Always wanted to learn more about photography all shared with other students from around the world? Always dreamed to enjoy the city of Amsterdam during the summer? Our 5-day complete summer photography course is designed designed to cater for every level of competence; from complete novice to more advanced photographer. You will begin to understand shutter speed, aperture, lens control and picture-making components such as composition, subject and lighting. This is the perfect introduction to photography for those with little or no experience whowant to get to grips with photography. You will be able to make better quality photos, you can edit them, you’ll understand the digital camera technology and therefore the capabilities of your camera better, you’ll learn about analogue photography; black and white film developing and printing. The FOTOfactory is situated in a great area (centre of Amsterdam) surrounded by nice restaurants, cafes. Easy to reach by public transport. You can visit Museums for Photography, modern and contemporary art, several festivals, enjoy a canalcruise etc. Small groups (max 7 persons). The GRADUATION SHOW 2018 On January 26th 2018 our Graduates, Carlotta Guerra, Jennifer Drabbe, Bart Bos, Kathrin Mundwiler, Makou Fujishita and Mariëlle Penrhyn Lowe present their thesis and photo projects to a big audience. Not only family, friends and other students, but also editors, publishers and scouts will visit these exhibitions. It is also possible to buy the photo works. The Graduations Show will take place at our gallery space at the Keizersgracht. Opening starts at 6pm.

Start of a new F3Y professional Course

This program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in photography and is English spoken. Finally the FOTOfactory is happy to annonce that there will start a new Course on a Friday! Your first year establishes a solid foundation in photographic craft and visual communications. You will be trained in camera/flash basics and usage as well in output techniques (traditional and digital). Some modules are Analogue photography, History and Analysis, Lightroom, Photoshop, Collage technique. The second part of the first year will cover the modules Studio Techniques -part I ( including product shots as well as portraits.), graphic design, photographic development I, as well as working towards your first years final assessment. During this first year your work will transform from producing single shots into complete storytelling series. The second year will include also conceptual fashion and advertising photography, documentary, developing your portfolio and artist statement as well as signature development. Through study assignments and presentations by experts in each field, you will gain detailed insight into each area of photographic endeavour. The third year allows you to focus on the area of photography that interests you most and developing your own professional portfolio, with the continual guidance of our mentors. Writing your thesis will also be part of it. When you successfully finish the third year, you will receive your certificate and will be part of the Graduation Show exhibition.
