What’s in a Sign? A lot and only a little. It tells you that we are selling. Of that there is no doubt. We will close our doors for the last time on Saturday 11th November. A momentous day for our family & those that work with us. What the Sign does not embrace is the 137 seven years that have gone before. My Great Grandfather, Thomas Delahunt, opened the doors when the remnants of famine were in the air, Charles Stewart Parnell was President of the Land League & Captain Halpin was busy laying the transatlantic cable. History continued its course including a rising, two world wars, economic highs and lows and the foundation of our State. As my Father once told me, you need tenacity to run a family business. What you also need is the support of incredible people. So firstly, a word of thanks for those who worked with us over all those years. We have been blessed to have an abundance of the hardest working people in Wicklow. There’s far too many to mention here, but I can assure you they are fondly remembered. We’d love our past work colleagues & friends to join us on November 11th between 12 and 2 for a cuppa, chat and some photos. A sincere and genuine thank you for being part of our extended family over the generations. Your hard work, decency, humour, honesty and friendship has always been appreciated. What you also need is customers. Without generations of our loyal customers, we would not be here today and we cannot thank you enough. Our most important mission was to provide a professional service to the people of Wicklow and we hope we’ve done you proud. We’ve always greatly appreciated your custom. You definitely know how to drive a hard bargain, but that’s the joy of business! Together, we’ve seen more than a few recessions. We always worked together & collectively stayed determined to remain local. For this we have always been truly grateful. Let’s not also forget the fantastic times that we’ve had in Wicklow. The town has been bustling and busy, with superb shopping and a thriving community that supports it. We’ve had great times and we are a great community. I would also like to thank our wonderful suppliers, many of them local family businesses themselves. We have really enjoyed doing business with you. Please call in over the coming days. In time honoured tradition, you will be most welcome. We have a lot to catch up on!

Neville's Doorstep Challenge

I have just received this email. There are worse ways to spend a Sunday, particularly if you are a budding Interior Designer... Hi Sylvester, Lovely speaking to you earlier. As I was saying TV3's new series Showhouse Showdown is coming to Wicklow Town this Sunday 10th September. The Interior Design Show featuring two new builds with two interior designers competing with the same budget to win the Target Market vote for the best interior on Launch Day! We are looking for local people to be part of our judging audience to tell us their opinions of what our designers have achieved and vote for our winning showhouse. There are no requirements to have any qualifications in design and children over 7 years are welcome to attend. Anyone who is interested can apply but emailing showhouseshow@gmail.com with a contact number. More details will be passed on to them directly. I have attached some more information for those interested in applying. I would really appreciate anything you can do to spread the word locally and sharing on your social media pages. Here is the link to our Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/nevillesdoorstep/photos/a.304769102938487.69751.261246147290783/1453367788078607/?type=3&theater The Show is really promoting Wicklow as a great place to live and hopefully, a good crowd on the day will give a great sense of community. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Kindest regards, Jennifer Vision Independent Productions
