2 events coming up in Area 2 over the next couple of weeks. Visit to Liebherr Plant, Killarney, Kerry. Date: Friday 19 February 2016 Liebherr Cranes have operated in Fossa since 1958, when Hans Liebherr founded their first manufacturing plant outside of Germany. Since then, the plant has continues to grow and has undergone many extensions. Liebherr last held an open day on Sunday 20 July 2014, when over 8,000 people passed through the plant. We have been given the opportunity to have a tour of the plant on 19 February, but numbers are limited, so we advise that you email us to reserve your place on this exclusive tour. We will have our own tour guide. This trip is a must for anyone interested in engineering or in the manufacturing or crane industry. I'm sure you've seen the crane fail videos on Youtube! CNC Workshop Date: Tuesday 15 March 2016 Following on from our CNC survey, we have devised a workshop based on CNC technology. This will be held in LIT. LIT are currently upgrading their CNC facilities, and will have some of new equipment running on the day. Participants will also be given up close and personal access to the technology behind and working examples of 3D printers, which will prove useful when discussing this years special topic with the Leaving Cert Engineering students.
