The Munster squad returned to training at the High Performance Centre in Limerick today ahead of Sunday’s Champions Cup clash away to Leicester Tigers at Welford Road (5.30pm). Niall Scannell (thumb) and Keith Earls (hamstring) are both expected to return to training this week and James Cronin (calf) is expected to be back in limited training. Earls has been out of action since injuring his hamstring while training with the international squad last month and Scannell had surgery on a thumb injury suffered away to Castres in October. Cronin sustained his calf injury while representing the Barbarians against Tonga last month.

25 months ago, Ireland's latest best ever chance at getting to a World Cup semi final was destroyed by an Argentina team who absolutely decimated an Irish defensive line that was living off fumes, a week after a destructive win over France put us top of a group we had to win, but cost us hugely. Devin Toner: An ever-reliable performer in the second row, Toner provided the experience in the pack and was vocal throughout. Joey Carbery: An absolute joy to watch, before one too many bruising hits took their toll and he was forced off holding his arm. Carbery made something happen every time he got on the ball and while his place-kicking requires some work, the out-half showed us what we all already know — he is class. The step and break for the first try was pure genius.
