To everyone who came to Stephen St. Car Park today, we are so sorry that the match did not get shown. It was down to a technical difficulty and we could do nothing about it. We are absolutely devastated that after all the effort of the last 3 days, the whole event fell apart because of a technical fault. All sponsorship money will obviously be returned and any money collected in the buckets will go to the Northwest Hospice. On a positive note, it has been so uplifting to see the goodwill behind this project from both the public and the business community. People thought it couldn't happen, we weren't sure at times the last few days, that it was going to happen, and only for a technical fault, it was all set to go. Thanks to everyone who turned up, thanks to all the volunteers, thanks to the amazing sponsors, thanks to the guards, civil defence, Sligo Leader, Sligo Volunteer Centre, local media and anyone who helped. It was fantastic to see what can happen in Sligo when all parties come together. A huge thanks to Bartley Gavin and Brian Flynn of Sligo County Council who's weekend was turned upside down after we approached them on Thrusday and yet they were in the car park all day Sunday in the rain to help. This dream started last Thursday morning and so much happened in such a short time. This was an event for the people and from what we've seen , Sligo can match any town or city in Ireland. Thanks again to everyone and apologies for any inconvenience caused. - Marie, Gino, Brian, Glen, Brendan.
