Huge congrats to Jack Monaghan who won gold today in the All Ireland Community Games Finals in the University of Limerick in the U8 80M sprint. Well done also to Camogie star Eloise who was 7th in the long puck. Last yr she got a distance of 63 & this year she got a very impressive 79 metres. The top 3 were between 83 & 85 so she was very close.

Congratulations to our U13 Boys Rounders team who returned from the Munster Final in Tralee having won Silver Medals! They met an experienced Rounders Club in the final and gave an admirable performance against Limerick represented by Ballybrown/Clarina. Rounders and the technicalities of the game was a new experience for this team but they played the game with enthusiasm and determination. They learnt lessons from each inning and the commraderie and support they gave each other was exceptional. A memorable and fun day out for the boys, their families and supporters. Those of us on the sideline also learnt a lot about the intricacies of the game during each inning! A special word of thanks to our coaches Pa O'Halloran and Colin Murphy and to Martin Joyce for the action photos!

Our Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry under 12 boys Soccer team represented Clare yesterday in the Munster Community Games Competition. The game was played at the University of Limerick and Clare faced Tipperary in what turned out to be a nail biting game. Clare (Sixmilebridge) were 1 goal up when Tipperary scored in the last minute of ordinary time to level the game. Extra time followed and the score remained 1 all. Tipperary were the winners in a tough final decider that was based on penalties. Credit to an amazing team of young players who faced stiff competition to win gold at County and should be so proud of their performance today representing Clare. They displayed incredible skill, superb team work and work rate under the blazing sun and gave it their all. A special word of thanks to Barry Downes and Greg Deegan their coaches and to the parents of this group of fabulous young players.

A very exciting under 13 County Rounders Competition was held in the Cappa Lodge field this morning between Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry and Ballynacally/Lissycasey. Our girls demonstrated superb team work and determination and got stronger every round but Ballynacally/Lissycasey won out after a two hour battle. Our teams thoroughly enjoyed their first competitive rounders game and they were delighted to receive their silver County Medals! A special word of thanks to our coaching team of Niamh Corry, Chloe Morey, Rachael O'Halloran and Rachel Whelan for sharing their expertise and their words of encouragement throughout the game. Such superb role models. Also thank you to the referee Joan Deegan and umpires Anne Kelly, Dympna Fleming and Margaret O'Halloran. Their knowledge of the game and their guidance to both teams was invaluable and greatly appreciated. Finally the very best of luck to Ballynacally/Lissycasey in the Munster Competition in July!
