Severe dehydration, Combat the cause or deal with the consequences with a homemade solution that I use and I find very efficient in dealing with heat cramps and dehydration. 1 litre of water add 1/2 tsp of bicarbonate of soda, 1/4 tsp of sea salt, 1-2 tsps of sugar/honey and flavour the water with cordial. On expeditions I carry the mini-cordial bottles from Robinsons, light weight, small and will make 20 glasses from just 66 ml of concentrate, weighs about 85 grams.See photo. A severe hydration medical emergency, can cause: Extreme thirst Extreme fussiness or sleepiness in infants and children; irritability and confusion in adults Very dry mouth, skin and mucous membranes Lack of sweating Little or no urination — any urine that is produced will be dark yellow or amber Sunken eyes Shriveled and dry skin that lacks elasticity and doesn't "bounce back" when pinched into a fold In infants, sunken fontanels — the soft spots on the top of a baby's head Low blood pressure Rapid heartbeat Fever In the most serious cases, delirium or unconsciousness. Unfortunately, thirst isn't always a reliable gauge of the body's need for water, especially in children and older adults. A better barometer is the color of your urine: Clear or light-colored urine means you're well hydrated, whereas a dark yellow or amber color usually signals dehydration. Stay Hydrated and pre-load before excessive exercise and trips to hi temperature areas.

A good tip from Mark Quinn is.....Hi concentration of cider vinegar also repels 'ticks'. (Spray around footwear and lower trousers). They are absolutely prolific this year after warm weather we had, and they of course carry nasty diseases to humans.

As a minimalist, learn to have one item with several uses and applications...so Jacks roll and duct tape are so useful in many ways ...here's one...a splint and sling.
