Czeslawa Kwoka,14, was sent to Auschwitz with her mother in December of 1942. Both were murdered there. Fellow prisoner, and photographer, Wilhelm Brasse recalled photographing Czeslawa in a 2005 documentary: "She was so young and so terrified. The girl didn't understand why she was there and she couldn't understand what was being said to her. So this woman Kapo (a prisoner overseer) took a stick and beat her about the face. This German woman was just taking out her anger on the girl. Such a beautiful young girl, so innocent. She cried but she could do nothing. Before the photograph was taken, the girl dried her tears and the blood from the cut on her lip. To tell you the truth, I felt as if I was being hit myself but I couldn't interfere. It would have been fatal for me." In times of increasing global tension it is as important as ever to keep sharp focus on the cost of conflict and hate. To be born and to live as equals is a myth. We are all different. We are not the same. Yet, it is in spite of this difference that we persevere to live alongside each other. Never forget this. #holocaustmemorialday #holocaustremembranceday (Credit @marinamaralarts for photo)

Lacan Review Online Psychoanalysis
"People have bought his unlikely anti-establishment line as throughout the campaign to date, Trump has been able to brand himself as a truth-teller and 'just one of us,' which presents a major advantage in a cycle where average voters are craving authenticity. It is easy to see how the apparent phoniness or comic difficulty with his hair signifies this ‘authenticity.’ Psychoanalyst Scott Wilson takes a look at the controversy surrounding the hairstyle of President elect Donald Trump. http://ow.ly/d55M306qxcL

Beauty of Mathematics
Psychoanalysts are no stranger to the beautiful form of mathematics. The languages we speak are always attempting to signify relations between what we experience or see around us. Always aiming and always missing at what we hope to express. Maths is just another tool in this arsenal. http://ow.ly/rvK5306qu29

Depression - Symptoms, Treatment & Self Help - Psychotherapy Dublin
"Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a longer-term therapy that aims to uncover underlying issues at play in depression, and other mental difficulties." "Studies of the psychoanalytic approach have found it to be 'superior' in outcome and lasting effect in comparison to CBT and other short term treatments (Leichsenring, & Rabung, 2008). The reason for this efficacy is believed to be associated to the therapy’s ability to better handle complex material. (Leichsenring, & Rabung, 2011)" Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist Colin McDonnell offers some advice on tackling symptoms of depression. http://ow.ly/94N4306oj7w

Freud's theory of The Uncanny speaks of scenes that seem almost recognisable and eerily familiar, yet something is out of sync. This jarring of perception has an alienating and frightening effect on the viewer. http://ow.ly/KESb306pxdj
Sigmund Freud's Theories | Simply Psychology
Freud’s work on dreams explored the presence of symbols in dreams. However, Freud was cautious about generalising these symbols and stated their personal rather than universal nature. A person cannot interpret what the content of a dream symbolises without delving in to the personal circumstances of their life. http://ow.ly/Y9Oi306pwMo
