Thanks to all who helped us at such an antisocial time yesterday morning 3am - 7.30am When the phone rings at 5.30am in the morning its always a panic, Is family Ok? Are our own rescues out? Is one of our rescues unwell and down in the field? So in a way its a relief to know its the PSNI calling for help with a group of terrified panicking rescues desperately in need of our help! So anti social time or the fact Joe was recovering from a very bad stomach bug was irrelevant! It was a situation of diving out of bed into clothes, hook up horse box and away to meet our Holly's Charity volunteers Martine & Junior already out of their warm beds into the cold night air with the PSNI trying to calm and round them up in Newry! Just another morning in the Voluntary world! And then you wonder when we posted a message asking for help with our horticulture project to grow to support our feed programme and stated we received no replies, that we could be accused of guilt running people into giving up their precious time when they were extremely busy with their jobs and families! And It just occurred to Joe & I when flying up the Omeath road at 5.45am in the morning do these people think we live in some parallel world? That we don't have personal commitments to our own families, never mind the amount of time we dedicate to our rescues and not for profit special needs and disadvantaged kids programmes? Or are we just viewed as some kind of tree hugging idiots who are stupid enough to reach out to help when others are prioritising and focusing on their important PAID jobs and very special families! Where does that leave us and our amazing Holly's volunteers who give so much of them own TIME and lives? Do people actually think we are neglecting our own lives and families by being there for others both human & animals? Are we wrong to do what we do? Are we wrong to ask for help? WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? We will really appreciate your feedback WE DID GET REPLIES FROM SOME LOVELY PEOPLE IN NEWRY TO OFFER TO COME ALONG TO GIVE A FEW HOURS TO HELP AND WE ARE REALLY GRATEFUL, BUT THIS FB MESSAGE JUST MADE US THINK? THANK YOU ALL, Easter Blessing, Elaine & Joe (Co. Founders www.hollyshorsehaven.com)

Six thirty this morning Hollys charity were on the road to assist the Newry PSNI to rescue a large number of foals who were on a main road in the area and were a danger to themselves and the public! PSNI were involved all night along with Martine from Hollys charity and with the support of the PSNI they were officially ceased and assisted to a safety. Sincere thanks to all involved especially to our young Hollys charity volunteer Junior who put his new Equine training skills into practice with such confidence during a very difficult exercise!
