As part of the Active School Challenge, Nenagh College was pleased to welcome the Marie Keating Foundation to present in our school. This Irish based charity is a key provider of cancer awareness and support programmes throughout Ireland. The Schools Cancer Awareness Programme aims to promote knowledge among students at post-primary level about various forms of cancer and to help them understand the importance of detecting cancer at an early stage. By making cancer ‘less frightening by enlightening’ for students, the programme endeavours to engage students with age-appropriate, interactive and informative material.

Nenagh College goes Cashless Nenagh College has introduced a new cashless system for parents of incoming first years. From September parents will be able to pay all fees and school expenses through the college’s Paypal partner, Way2Pay. Launching this new innovative service at Nenagh College on Thursday night last, Elaine Collins from Way2Pay informed the parents of incoming first years of the quick, easy and convenient method for making all the normal payments associated with school. Way2Pay are Ireland’s fastest growing cashless solution for schools, where a text to a parents phone will enable them to make the payments. Nenagh College are first partner school of Way2Pay in the Nenagh area. Introducing the system, school principal Damien Kennedy outlined how this service will remove the need for parents to send money into the school and the school’s easy payment plan will help to ease the burden of back to school costs. On the night , parents were also given an introduction to the school’s information system, VSWare, by the school administrator, Majella Kennedy. This on- line information portal enables parents to receive end of term reports, track their child’s progress and attendance and timetable remotely from a tablet, laptop or phone. The evening also provided the school with an opportunity to outline the curriculum the students will follow, with an emphasis on the school’s commitment to introducing the new Junior Cycle. The school’s comprehensive pastoral care structure was also very warmly received by the large crowd present.
