A Communications, Speechmaking and Social Club - Open to all. Have you ever been at a meeting and wanted to ask a question.... but you just couldn't put the words together to speak in front of the group?
Have you ever been at a wedding where the speeches were great and said ' I wish I could do that'.... or the speeches were long and boring and you said ' That could be better'?
If so.... then The Galtees Toastmasters is the place for you!
Have you been nervous before an interview, hoping you could answer the questions well?
Have you been at meeting which ran over time with no decisions made because the Chairperson lacked experience?
Have you been at a presentation where the speaker had good content but lacked the skills to get their point across effectively?
Come to The Galtees Toastmasters and develop the skills of leadership, effective speaking, communication and speaking... in a safe, supportive environment. We meet on alternate Tuesdays from September 10th 2013 at The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown, 8pm. Guests are always welcome and will never be asked to speak, unless they wish to.

The Toastmaster season is almost upon us.. First up is Officer Training in Mallow on Tuesday 22nd. All members are welcome to attend, further information contact Brian or Peter.
Great meeting last night. Hilary Creagh had an amazing range of topics, usual and unusual which got us thinking outside the box. Both our speakers spoke from the manual "Speaking to Inform"; Brian Farrell gave an interesting and informative talk on the life of William Shakespeare and Peter Langley regaled us with his genealogical hunt for some of his in-laws. Then our President Brian O'Farrell and Sergeant at Arms, John Walsh made a presentation to Mary Meaney of a picture of her father, Mick Meaney rising from his grave.
Great evening last night with our competitions. more to follow but meanwhile a photo of Coco Chanel preparing for her speech.

2 lovely events this past week. On Tuesday night last the boys from CBS Secondary received their Youth Leadership certs, having given great speeches and conducted the entire meeting. Well done everyone. Photos to follow! Then on Wednesday the Transition Years from St Fanahan's College completed their Youth Leadership Programme. Again, it was a pleasure to have the students take over the meeting and deliver confident interesting speeches. Mary, Hilary and Máire were delighted to be involved and were very proud! The photo shows the TY group from St Fanahan's College.
Congratulations to our esteemed member, Máire Corbett on her interview on TV3 news lunch time yesterday. A credit to The Galtees Toastmasters.
Next Tuesday, 21st we are back in action with a normal night, visitors are always welcome, 8pm in Firgrove.

Fantastic night last night when pupils from T.Y in Presentation Secondary School showed off their speaking skills. Máire, Mary and Hilary had been working with them all last term and the confidence and articulation of these young ladies standing up and speaking in public was amazing.
Tonight!!! Tuesday 3rd.... First meeting of the New Year. As usual Firgrove at 8pm. For those of you who cant make it, Happy and Prosperous New Year and hope to see you at our next meeting.

Great evening with a Christmas flavor. These are a few of the incidents although I think in one Mary was upset with the photographer.
