If you are looking for a new car always good to check out this website. You can check how your prospective car has faired in the most important test, the crash test. Probably best not to buy a Ford Mustang any time soon. NCAP website also retrospectively looks back at models also produced in the past few years. https://www.euroncap.com/en/ratings-rewards/latest-safety-ratings/#?selectedMake=0&selectedMakeName=Select a make&selectedModel=0&includeFullSafetyPackage=true&includeStandardSafetyPackage=true&selectedModelName=All&selectedProtocols=26061,24370&selectedClasses=1202,1199,1201,1196,1205,1203,1198,1179,1197,1204,1180&allClasses=true&allProtocols=false&allDriverAssistanceTechnologies=false&selectedDriverAssistanceTechnologies=
What you think you're buying probably isn't what your actually buying (PSA Group , mentioned in the article, is Peugeot/Citroen who have recently bought Opel in case you're wondering).
We're not surprised at this. Have had numerous customers with performance complaints since recall was performed.
2/2 Video after repair. It's clear to see what the steering rack should look like when in proper working order. Apologies for the bad quality of the video my battery was about to go.
1/2 BUYER BEWARE!! New customer called in yesterday with an issue with their steering. They had only bought the car a few days prior from a private seller in Cork. After a test drive it was clear that there was a serious issue with the steering of the car in that it only partially turned right. We insisted that the vehicle was not driven until we checked the car on a ramp. On inspection we realised that this customer was very lucky not to have had a serious accident. The steering rack is anchored by 4 bolts. 2 of these bolts were missing. The other 2 are used to anchor a u clamp and bushing which are not directly attached to the steering rack. The bushing had collapsed due to the movement of the rack while the steering wheel is turned. The videos show before and after the repair. For the sake of the relative small cost that a garage might charge you to check over the car before you buy, it could save you a substantial amount in possible future repair costs or in this case it could prevent a very serious accident and possible loss of life. GET IT CHECKED BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!
