Fianna Fáil is pushing for tax breaks for builders Fianna Fáil housing spokesman Barry Cowen told The Sunday Business Post that he wants to see a temporary reduction in the VAT rate charged on construction in an effort to kick-start house building. The move has long been suggested by the construction industry, but successive governments have resisted it. Now, it’s bang in the middle of the political agenda.
