Playschool, Afterschool, Parent, Baby and Toddler Group, Easter and Summer camps Louisburgh Childcare was originally established in 1981 as a Community Playgroup. In 2005 we became Louisburgh Childcare Ltd and in September 2010 we moved to a new purpose built facility.
Louisburgh Childcare provides childcare services to the local community and offers the following services;
* A free year of Early Childhood Care and Education for children of pre-school age.
* Afterschool including school pick up.
* Parent, Baby and Toddler group.
* Easter and Summer camps.
The Playschool runs Monday to Friday from 9am to 12 noon. This service caters for 22 children per session.
The Playschool implements the HighScope approach. HighScope is an approach to early learning and development which identifies and builds on childrens strengths, interests and abilities. It invites children to be actively involved in play and involves a daily routine for the children in preparation for school.
The Playschool children take part in various forms of outdoor and indoor play such as; sand, water, climbing frame, slide, bikes, games, playdough, arts and crafts, block area, storytime, dancing and music.
Afterschool runs Monday to Friday from 2pm to 6pm each day. It caters for up to 20 school aged children. The service also includes collecting the children from school in Louisburgh Childcare's afterschool bus.
In afterschool the children do their homework, have a snack and take part in various forms of outdoor and indoor play such as; sand, climbing frame, games, playdough, play and listen to music, bake, artwork, dance, bowling, board games and computers.
Easter camps run during the Easter holidays and Summer camps are run during July and August, for children aged from 3 to 12 years old. Activities include arts & crafts, treasure hunts, stories, songs, games and outdoor activities.
The Parent, Baby and Toddler Group runs on a Wednesday from 10:00 - 12:00. Different activities are carried out with the parents and children on a weekly basis.

The parent, baby and toddler group will be starting a reflexology course with Jennifer Rutherford from Daisy Chain this Weds, 7th March for 4 weeks. All places are now filled. The course finishes after Easter on Weds 11th April. There will be no parent, baby & toddler group as such whilst the reflexology course is running. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Apologies for the late notice but a nationwide Red Alert has just been announced and ALL schools will be closed today (1st March) and Friday (2nd March). Stay safe. We will open as normal on Monday the 5th March as long as the red alert has been lifted. A text will be sent out to all parents on Sunday to confirm.
Parent, Baby and Toddler group will be open as normal tomorrow (Weds 24th Jan) from 09:45-11:45.
Unfortunately there will be no Parent, Toddler and Baby group tomorrow (Weds 17th Jan) due to works in the room. Please share. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Places are available in our afterschool for the current school year. Our service is availing of the single affordable childcare scheme where our parent fees are less and the subvention from the department is more. Children are collected from Louisburgh National School at 2pm and 3pm on our afterschool bus and are brought to afterschool where they can do their homework, various activities, play with a wide range of toys and play outside in our secure outdoor area.
